My name is Amy Uuereb and welcome to my blog. I wanted to create a place that was about me, my family and the stuff I love. First a little about me...
I am in my late 30's and grew up the oldest of 3 children in a military family. I lived in Europe for 6 years, but have always considered the Pacific Northwest my home. My family is very close and we talk to each other daily. My parents are retired, my brother recently married and he and his wife live in Tacoma. My sister is single and lives in Tacoma as well.
I graduated from Central Washington University in 2004, after a 11 year break from school. I never appreciated college until after I graduated. I have considered returning but decided that my life is just too busy.
I met the love of my life, Tom Rhodes in December 2002. He is a warm generous man who loves me unconditionally. After many years in a loveless marriage, he taught me how to trust and love again. He and I dated and then married in April 2004. We are very happily married and never take each other for granted.
I never thought I would have children. I always wanted several but never believed that I would be blessed. Late in 2004, I gave birth to a beautiful boy named Robert. This child is incredibly smart and never ceases to amaze both Tom and I. He is a very talkative and busy preschooler. From the day he was born, he has never known anything but love and affection from our large family. Robert is destined to be my only child yet he filled the void in my life that I thought would always be empty.
I am a pretty active person. I love being outdoors and traveling. I also like to read and scrapbook. However, nothing prepared me for the other passion in my life (besides Tom and Robert) than the discovery I made in 2000.
I had always wanted to learn to Scuba dive. I would snorkel for hours on vacation, always wanting to be below the surface. After learning to dive in 2000, I just couldn't get enough. I started diving 2-3 times a week in late 2001, then took several classes. I purchased equipment and then decided to share my passions for the deep with others: I became a scuba instructor in September 2002. Tom also learned to dive and he and I spent many weekends and evening teaching diving and just having fun dives ourselves. We are active divers in Puget Sound and British Columbia. We have also traveled to Mexico, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Central America to dive as well. We decided in 2005 to take our passion to the next level and open our own SCUBA diving store. A-2-Z Scuba opened its doors in 2006 and has enjoyed many successes in the last 2 years. We have made several friends and realized that we could be business owners as well as scuba divers.
As for other stuff? Well, Tom and I bought our first home together in 2004 in Puyallup. Tom's daughter from his first marriage, Katie also lives with us. We have 2 dogs, Bradee and Lucy and a black cat that keeps them both in line. Our life in general is a whirlwind of activity, but we never forget the appreciation we have for our life and each other.
